Brian and I are back from our visit to New Mexico. We went down to the "Land of Enchanment" (state motto) to visit Dale and Deanna and see the Balloon Fiesta. Dale was a fantastic tour guide - I don't think there is anything left in Santa Fe or Albuerquerque that we didn't see. We went up to Santa Fe to have lunch with Deanna and check out the Superior Court (where Deanna works)as well as see the Aspen's changing colors up on the ski slopes, went over to Los Alamos to check out the museum from where they built the first atomic bomb, checked out Dale's favorite brew pub and we even made it to two wineries! The best part was the Balloon Fiesta. Every year hundreds of hot air balloons come to the town to participate. It lasts one week and they have contests and rides all week long. We made it out to the field for the "mass lift-off" and you could stand right on the field as the balloons were being blown up and lifting off. There were traditional hot air balloons and special shapes. It was really a lot of fun.
Here is a picture tour for everyone to enjoy.... (put your mouse over the picture to see the discription)
