Tummy Time for Oma

Every week Oma has been coming up to help me out and give me some free time. Each time she comes up she makes sure that Andrew has tummy time. Ever since Andrew was born, he HATES tummy time. Well, I'm happy to report that the last two weeks, Andrew doesn't scream the whole time he is on his tummy. He actually seems to enjoy it, even if it is only a short period of time.

This week Oma wasn't feeling well so she wasn't able to come up. Never fear though Oma, I still made sure that Andrew got plenty of tummy time!

My Rockstar Husband

Andrew got his daddy Guitar Hero for his birthday. Brian wasted no time putting the guitar together and rocking out with his new video game. Perhaps when Andrew gets older, Brian and Andrew can form a band and go on tour!

**Please ignore the messy house! You would think I could keep
the house clean while I'm home all day!**

Another busy week

Another busy week for Andrew and Mommy and it is only Wednesday! I'm starting to think I'm not going to have time to go back to work...Andrew and I have too busy of schedule!

On Monday we went down to Sausalito to have dinner with some friends. When Brian and I were in Rome two years ago we met Anto and Dani who were friends of Bob and Sharon. We were so happy last week when Bob and Sharon told us they were going to be in town and we should all meet up for dinner. It was a quick visit since they were only going to be in town for a short time but it was fun. Brian got to practice his Italian a little and see his Italian girlfriend!

While I was getting ready to meet everyone for dinner, I put Andrew on his play mat. Normally I can put him down, leave for a few minutes and when I come back everything is just fine. Well, not anymore! When I left to go get ready, he was in the center of the mat. Now our little man can scoot on his back off of his mat! Perhaps I'll need to fence him in!

Yesterday Andrew and I went over to Erika and Gemma's house for a play date. Andrew was his cute little self and we had a great time.

On a side note....HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRIAN! Today is Brian's birthday and he is turning 34!

Weddings and Reunions

As usual, another action packed weekend for the Wing household. On Saturday Brian and I went to Mike and Priscilla's wedding while Andrew spent the night with my parents. For some reason, my mom felt Andrew would be safer in her care than with Brian and I that night. Perhaps it had something to do with the open bar at Mike and P's wedding?!

On Sunday we had the whole Duste family over for the annual Duste family reunion. It is great to get all of the extended family together once a year and catch up.

Look at my little munchkin hanging out with the big boys!

3 Months Old

Dear Andrew,

Today you are three months old! I can't believe how much you have grown and changed in the last month.

Every morning you greet me with a smile and laugh. You are such a happy baby in the morning and really all day long. I love getting you up and look forward to our adventures every day! You are definitely a baby on the go. There is rarely a day that we don't go somewhere or have something to do. Our morning walks are still one of your favorite things to do and I try to make sure we go every day.

This month you have found your hands and LOVE to put them in your mouth. You love to grab your burp cloth and put that in your mouth as well. I know this is just the beginning of the things you will be putting in your mouth and that daddy and I will have our hands full keeping an eye on you.

You're getting to be quite the big boy. You are now 13 pounds, 6 ounces. Quite a big difference from your birth weight of 5 pounds, 9 ounces. Your 0-3 months clothes are starting to get too small for you and you are transitioning into your "big boy" clothes!

Speaking of big boy things, this month you started sitting in your big boy chair. At first you weren't too sure of this new contraption that mommy brought home but you have learned to love it and you are so cute sitting in it. You look so grown up when you are in it.

I can't even begin to describe the joy that you bring to my life. I look forward to every day that I get to spend with you and I feel so honored to be your mom. In just these three short months I have learned the meaning of unconditional love and what the relationship between a parent and child is all about. There is no way to describe the feeling. It is one of those things you must experience to really understand. You are my little angel and I thank God for giving me the opportunity to be your mom.

I love you little man,
Mommy

Olympic Thoughts

Since I am still home on maternity leave, I've had more time to watch the Olympics this year than I have in the past. Here are some of my thoughts/observations:
  • Why do the ladies in beach volleyball wear speado's and the men wear shorts and tank tops? Shouldn't they were little skimpy outfits too?
  • What is the deal with the game of Handball? It is really just a cross between soccer and basketball. Were the sports not ok by themselves? Why would someone want to combine them?
  • The smog in the air is absolutely crazy. Perhaps Al Gore should go over to China and talk to them about global warming because it seems like China might be a MAJOR contributor!
  • I don't understand the whole point of protesting the Olympics because of the way China has treated humans in the past. Why are people only caring now that the Olympics are there? If this was really truly a concern that you have, you should have been protesting/speaking out about this years ago. Don't wait and ruin the experience for the Olympians.
  • I want Andrew to grow up and be just like Michael Phelps! I would be such a proud mommy if Andrew won 8 gold medals! Heck, I would be a proud mommy if Andrew even went to the Olympics. OK, I'm a proud mommy no matter what but an Olympic gold medal sure wouldn't suck!!
  • What is the difference between the world championship and the Olympics? In almost every sport they say "This person just finished first last year at the world championship." Aren't the Olympics supposed to be the World championship event? Why have the Olympics every 4 years if each sport has their own mini world event every year?

Wings Over Wine Country

Tony's and his plane are on the right

We're trading in Brian's truck for one of these!
Do you think there are enough guages?
The plane even has blinkers!

It's that time of the year again when planes from all over head to the Sonoma Country Airport, you look up to the sky and enjoy the show! Brian and I headed out to the airshow on Saturday and had a great time. Brian was in heaven the whole time watching the different planes fly by at high speeds, loop, roll and spin through the air and perform all kinds of different stunts. One of Brian's coworkers is the owner of a World War 2 plane that was in the show so after the show was over, we got the special treatment. Tony took us out on the ramp to show us his plane and walk around to see the other planes. I wasn't sure if I was ever going to be able to get Brian to go home but eventually, I managed to pull him away!

Thanks to Auntie Michelle and Uncle Scotty for watching Andrew. He was much happier with you then out with the loud noise and heat.

On a side note...the name of the airshow really is "Wings Over Wine Country." I didn't make that one up!

Always pull over!

Andrew and I just got home from running some errands and we saw the craziest thing. We were driving down the street and heard a siren. I looked in my rear view mirror and saw a firetruck coming. No big deal....we pulled over to the right side of the road and so did the car behind me. The car in front of me however decided not to pull over. She just stopped right in the middle of the lane. HELLO, everyone knows you are supposed to pull over to the side of the road! The firetruck had to go into the other lane of oncoming traffic to get by this crazy lady.

OK, now the firetruck has passed and we are all on our way again. Not 30 seconds later a cop is coming up behind us. I don't think anything of it because cops and firetrucks normally go together. We all start to pull over to let him by and instead of wizzing by us, he pulls the lady in front of me over!! The firetruck must have told the police car about her. I hope she got a ticket for being stupid.

Love & Apples are in the air!

Another busy weekend for the Wing household. Brian left on Friday night to go deer hunting with Mike and Tim. For those of you that don't know....Saturday was opening day of deer season. I'm sure you are all just as excited as I am about this and already had the date marked on your calendar! ;) Andrew and I stayed here to hold down the fort and go to Priscilla's wedding shower on Saturday. (I also had NO interest in going nor were Andrew and I invited!)

*Brian the Hunter*

Saturday we went to Priscilla's shower and Andrew got to hang out with his future wife, Lauren. Kimmy and I can't wait until they are a little bit older and running around playing with each other. We just have to remind them that if they are playing in their room, they have to keep the door open...no funny business allowed!
*Lauren and Andrew*
(Can't you feel the love in the air!)

On Sunday we went out to Sebastopol for the Gravenstein Apple Fair. We had fun eating fair food and seeing all of the different animals and crafts. We even managed to pick up a pie to bring home for dessert.
*My boys relaxing in the shade*

*Andrew had the important job of guarding the pie!*

We all had a great weekend and in case you were wondering....the deer managed to get by Tim, Mike and Brian without being caught. I've been told though I have to stop rooting for the deer to win or the boys aren't going to talk to me anymore!

I hope I don't jinx myself...

I'm a little scared to say this for fear that I might jinx myself but I'm going to risk it. Andrew is now sleeping through the night! He did it for the first time on Sunday night and has kept it up every night since then. He goes to bed at 8:00 and then sleeps until 6:00am!! I feed him and then he goes back down and sleeps until 10:00am! His nap schedule is a little messed up now though. He used to take 1 morning nap and 1 afternoon nap that were about 2 hours long. Now he doesn't take a morning nap which is ok since he sleeps until 10 and his afternoon nap is only 1 hour. I guess I can't complain since he is sleeping through the night!

I'm so proud of my little guy.

Happy Birthday Grandma Wing

On Sunday we went over to Lee and Darlene's (Brian's parents) to celebrate Grandma Wing's 98th birthday. It was great to have the family together and party. Grandma Wing has to be the youngest 98 year-old I've ever met. She looks and acts much younger than her years and we are so blessed that we have this time with her.

What was I thinking?

I'm sure you are all familiar with the equation: babies = diapers. There is a direct relationship between what goes in one side and what comes out the other. As a mom, I am very familiar with this and have spent countless hours standing at the changing table taking care of business. In the last two and a half months I have perfected my technique and can change a diaper like a pro. However, this morning I clearly was not at the top of my game.

I took Andrew's diaper off, cleaned him up, took off his PJ's from last night and put on his outfit for today. I picked him up and thank goodness I noticed that something was wrong right away. Can you figure out that I did??

I forgot to put a diaper back ON him! Who forgets to put a diaper back on a 2 1/2 month old boy?! HELLO, that is just asking for all kinds of trouble. I quickly unclothed him and got a diaper on before anything happened.

Clearly I need to slow down and think about what I am doing. That could have been 1 big disaster.
