It's BBQ time!

Spring is here which means it is time to dust off the BBQ and start the parties! Today we went over to the Neil's house for our first BBQ of the season. We had a great time and the kids enjoyed playing with each other. We were still able to stay one step ahead of them today but I have a feeling they will quickly be running circles around all of us!

Visit to Oma's house

Since Oma and Zack came up to visit Andrew and I on Wednesday, we decided to go down to Oma's house and visit today. I have such great memories of my grandparent's house growing up and the fun that my cousin Karla and I used to have. It was fun reliving those experiences today with Zack and Andrew. Zack was a good sport with all of the crazy things I wanted to do and as usual, Andrew just hung out and thought everything was funny!

This may look like a bathroom shower but it is really a time machine! It has been updated since the 80's but Karla and I would spend hours in the shower pressing all of the tiles and pretending we were traveling to far away places where unicorns lived!
Every one of Oma's grandchildren and great grandchildren has had a fascination with these tables. We would crawl through them, bang on them, pull them. We should market them and sell them as toys!

This is the playground that Oma and Opa used to take us to. When we were little, there were big metal slides, swings that used to go really high and no fences anywhere. Of course, since then they have had to make the park "safe" for children to play. It's amazing we even survived!

Andrew LOVED the slide
Zack sat on the swing too and my mom decided he needed a push. Andrew thought the entire event was funny!

Zack and Oma visit

Zack had Spring Break this week so he came down from Idaho to spend some time with Oma and see the family. Oma and him came up to visit us today and we had a great time. Brian was able to come home for lunch so Zack wasn't stuck with the ladies for too long. They were able to talk about Playstation games, computer stuff and all kinds of boy topics that I have no idea about. I guess it's only a matter of time before Andrew will want to talk about these things too!!

10 months

10 months old

Dear Andrew,

Wow, another month has come and gone so quickly! You are growing up to be quite the little man and my little infant boy is almost unrecognizable. Here's a quick rundown of the last month:
  • You weigh 19.2 pounds and are 28 inches long.
  • You can stand up, sit up, cruise along the furniture and are getting into EVERYTHING!
  • You're a great eater. So far, the only thing you don't like are peas.
  • For the most part, you feed yourself. I still feed you your soft foods but everything else I cut up into small bites and you eat like a big boy.
  • Sleeping is still sporadic. Naps during the day are great but night time is still a guess. I think you know when I've reached my breaking point because you will sleep like an angel for a couple of nights. Then, when I get used to you sleeping all night, you decide you miss me and insist on waking up 1-2 times.
  • I found 2 freckles on you this month; one on the outside of your right knee and the other on the inside of your left ankle.
  • 2 of your bottom teeth have broken through. For the most part, you handle the teething process very well.
  • You can wave bye-bye and now all we have to do is say the words and you start waving.
  • You know the sign for all done. I'm not sure you know what it means but you do it on cue!
  • You're starting to understand what DaDa means. We should have this mastered by next month.
It has been so much fun being home with you this month to watch you grow and develop. You are the best little man and I love you very much.

Love,
Mommy

Fun in Tahoe

We just got back from a fantastic long weekend at Northstar with my parents and Bob and Sharon. As usual, the weekend was packed with fun skiing, sledding and visiting friends. We were a little disappointed when we arrived because the snow was pretty sparse, none in the trees and the stuff on the ground was all dirty. On Saturday, it started to snow and it snowed all night long. When we woke up Sunday morning, it was a winter wonderland outside! There was snow everywhere and it was so beautiful. Andrew did great on the drive up and back. We just had to stop once and it was mostly because we were hungry! We're so blessed that Andrew is a great traveler and we look forward to lots more trips to Northstar. Thank you Oma for giving us this fantastic opportunity, we really enjoy it.

On Saturday we went to go see Ali, Scotty and Jared. Brian and Scott went out for some boy time while Ali and I played with little Jared. He pretty much slept the entire time but I was able to play with him for a little bit. Seeing Jared only 9 days old reminded me how tiny Andrew used to be. I forgot that babies are a little more fragile and they flop around a lot!

Busy Week

Andrew and I have been very busy this week and it's only Wednesday! On Monday, we met Melissa for lunch at Mary's. I haven't seen Melissa for a long time and it was great to catch up and it is always fun to go to Mary's. Andrew was a trooper and entertained himself while Melissa and I chatted away for 2 hours!

Tuesday we celebrated St. Patrick's Day with a traditional Corned Beef dinner. I didn't think that Andrew would like it but in his usual fashion, he ate everything I put on his tray. The only thing he still doesn't like to eat is peas which is ok with me since Brian and I don't eat them either!
Today we went to see Jen and baby Grevin. I got to see Grevin in the hospital but I didn't take Andrew with me. This was Andrew's very first time that he had seen anyone younger than him and he was very interested in Grevin especially when he would make noise. Andrew would stop what he was doing and just stare and him. I did have to stop Andrew from just crawling right over him a few times!

The difference between 44 weeks and 1 week!
Now I'm packing us all up and we are going to Tahoe for a couple of days. Never a quite moment in this house!
