WOW! I feel like I have so much to blog about these days. Here is today's story....
I was in Target getting some needed pregnancy supplies. A lady comes up to me in the aisle and asks me if I have medical insurance? WHAT?! She goes on to tell me she works at an organization that helps low income, teenage single moms who don't have insurance and she would like to help me out if I need it. Clearly the wedding ring on my finger doesn't mean a thing to her and the random crap in my cart was giving her signals that I was low income. **Note to all readers: If Brian asks, everything I got a Target today was a necessity and can be filed under Household Items in Microsoft Money. In additional to the things we really needed...I HAD to have the new Sophie Kinsella book that came out today, I've wanted a pizza stone for awhile and it was on sale, and HoHo's are my new before bedtime treat.
I guess today I look like I needed some help. And to think, I actually thought today I looked pretty cute!

How mean can you be?
This is the ad that pops up from time to time on my pregnancy message board. They have four roating ads:- The first is for people who are pregnant and have no insurance (you probably should have thought about this fact before you got pregnant but not everyone is that smart I guess!)
- The second is for Pamper's diapers (very useful because they give our coupons and pregnant ladies will need to be purchasing diapers very soon)
- The third is for Cord Blood banking/donation (good information for those people who can afford it and are interested. In case you were wondering....it is about $3,000 to store your babies cord blood for use later!)
- fourth is this dieting one!
All of this ranting has made me hungry now. I think I'm going to go get a cookie from the break room. So much for are you heavy or healthy!

Bye Bye Puppy

Well, we took Jack Jack to the local animal shelter this afternoon so they can help find his owners. We have signs that we hung around the neighborhood so when his mommy and daddy come home tonight, they know where to find him. I also put a listing on craigslist in case they are internet savvy!
It was fun playing with the little guy all day today.
Puppy Love
This morning there was a little puppy running around on the street in front of the winery. My coworker and I decided that we should babysit him for the day and try to find his owners. We are a dog friendly winery so we felt compelled to help out this poor little guy. He has been running around our office since 8:30 this morning and it is 11:00 now. He hasn't settled down even once! We have named him Jack Jack and we are pretty sure he is a Jack Russel.
Isn't he the cutest thing....

Maybe Bella needs a new friend....Monday, February 18, 2008
Why am I watching this?
After a weekend full of cleaning, organizing and rearranging the house, I decided today is a lazy day. Brian is out golfing this morning so I can do whatever I want and no one will know. I sat on the couch and saw that "A Baby Story" was on tv. Great! I love this show. For those of you that are not familiar with this show, it follows a couple through their pregnancy and birth.
After about 5 mintues of watching, I decided that this is NOT a good show for pregnant ladies to watch. The lady on tv was in her early stages of labor and screaming in pain. She was having a home birth with no medication which probably didn't help her pain level at all and had been in labor for 31 hours already. I turned the channel very quickly to make the screaming stop. The only good thing about watching this program today is that it reaffirmed that we are going to a hospital to give birth and I'm taking all of the meds they will give me!

Newborn Knowledge Quiz
One of the many websites I belong to about babies posts quizzes that you can take about preganacy, newborn, child raising, etc. I decided to take the Newborn Knowledge Quiz today to see what I know. I'm happy to report that "I'm a natural" according to the quiz! These are the things I learned:
- The Moro Reflex is a protective reflex that the baby does when startled. The baby will extned out his arm trying to cling or embrace something. (Why this is important I don't know but I guess I'll figure it out!)
- A type of ear infection is called otitis media. (Sorry mom but there were a lot of scientific words for this answer and I couldn't remember which was correct. That's why I have a business degree and not a nursing degree!)
- When people offer you unwanted advice, it is not appropriate to say this is my baby not yours. You are supposed to politely say thank you and then do what you think is best. (I knew this one already but I'm sure I'm going to want to tell people the answer I picked!)
After I took this quiz I thought, this sure is silly that they let people do this. Could you imagine how stressed I would be if I FAILED! Like being pregnant isn't stressful enough, they have quizzes you can take that stress you out even more. Clearly a man, who has never known a pregnant woman, came up with this idea.

Give the pregnant lady a break!
OK, this might be a little bit of too much information but I have to share. For those of you that don't know, one of the lovely side effects of pregnancy is constipation. So, when the need to go hits...you go. It doesn't matter where you are when this happens because it might be a long time before the need hits again. A pregnant lady doesn't miss any opportunity!
So, this morning I'm sitting at my desk and WooHoo, the need hits. I head off to the bathroom to take care of business. I will admint that this takes a little time because you don't want to rush or force anything for fear of getting hemorroids (another lovely pregnant surprise) **Side note: there are only 2 people who use the bathroom in my office, myself and the executive assistant. It's not like I was using a stall in a public bathroom. Our bathroom is cute and we've decorated it and it looks like a bathroom that would be in a house** When I get back to my office one of my coworkers is sitting here waiting for me. Two things you need to know about this coworker 1)it's a guy 2) he's never been married or have kids so the pregnancy thing is a mystery to him. He has the nerve to ask me what was taking so long in the bathroom and then starts to tease me about it. I tell him "Look mister, I didn't sleep last night so today is not the day to mess with me. Just trust me when I say things take a little longer when your pregnant and don't ask questions!"
I don't think he'll be visiting my office again for awhile!

Welcome Baby Lauren!
Our friends Tim and Kim had their little girl last week. Brian and I decided to go over to the hospital to get a little bit of a reality check. Kimmy was very nice and left out all of the horrible details of childbirth for fear that I would go running and screaming away! Tim told Brian all the details that he will need to know while I'm in labor. His best suggestion: Do whatever Michelle wants and make sure she gets the epidural on time! (I knew I liked Tim!!)We went to check-up on the happy family again yesterday and they are doing great. Everyone is at home and adjusting to this new life fantastically. Tim and Kim are now our role models, if they can do this and survive...so can we!!
