Today's Pregnancy Lesson:

Lesson for today: Pregnant woman CAN NOT take Nyquil when they are sick.

I think my OB office might be calling child protective services right now putting a claim against me for abuse of my unborn child! As most of you know, I've been battling this cold/flu bug since last Wednesday. I haven't had a good night sleep the whole time and the drugs that are safe to take during pregnancy don't work.

I called the OB office this morning to see if there was any other drug options I could take. She proceeded to read me the list of approved drugs (which I have at home and have tried them all with no luck). Then I asked if it would be ok to take a small dose of Nyquil at night. It clears me up and lets me sleep. I swear, you would have thought that I just asked her if I could do just 1 hit of herion. She proceeded to tell me in the most horrified voice ever that I ABSOLUTELY CAN NOT TAKE NYQUIL! OK, back to the recommended list of crappy drugs I go.

I'm thinking that since Nyquil is a no, I probably shouldn't call them back and ask about Dayquil!?

We are moving!

I’ve made the decision that we need to move. There was a thread on my pregnancy board that was started where people write where they live and how much they pay for mortgage or rent. There have been 163 posts and only 3 people pay more than we do. 2 of them live in San Diego and 1 lives in New York. The majority of the people pay ½ of what we pay for a mortgage and have twice the size of house with land!

I am going to start packing tonight. Feel free to come and visit us.

Perhaps a truce has been called?

I know I'm going to regret saying this but I think Bella has called a truce with the deer. Last night was the usual barking non-stop until I couldn't handle it anymore. She spent most of the evening outside because that is the only place she would be quite! This morning however, I let her out of her crate and she walked (not ran) down the hall, went into the man room and gave a soft little bark and then turned around and walked out. Then, the rest of the morning she followed me around the house like normal. I'm hoping we are on the road to recovery here!

Bella vs. the Deer

Would anyone like to come and take Bella? You can have her. I will even include her crate, toys, food, bowls, everything you need to make her happy because I can't seem to make her happy anymore.

Brian has been working on cleaning out the office and transforming it into his "man room". In the process of this transformation, his deer trophy (aka deer head) is now proudly mounted on the wall. Bella can't stand this. Every time she comes into the house, she goes running down the hallway and into the man room. Then she starts barking non-stop at the deer head. It isn't a cute little dog bark, it is a big loud mean dog bark. Yesterday she got herself in such a tizzy that her hair was standing up on her neck and she couldn't concentrate on anything else. If you bring her out into the living room and lock her in her crate, she just sits there pointing towards the room and does little barks. Even if you close the bedroom door, she goes running up to it and starts barking non-stop. I've tried distracting her with treats, toys, food and nothing works. She is obsessed on the deer. I think she can smell it but Brian thinks I'm nuts.

She has always been scared of new things...a box sitting on the ground, a backpack sitting on the chair, anything. She will let you know immediately if something is out of place. Normally, you just take her up to it, let her sniff it and tell her everything is ok. We've tried everything to make her accept the deer but it has not worked. She has declared war and isn't backing down. I guess I have to give her some credit her being so persistent but I just want the noise to stop!

Officially in the third trimester!

It's official, on Friday I was 27 weeks pregnant. That means I have started my seventh month of pregnancy and I'm in my third trimester. Here are some of my pregnancy lessons I've learned:
  1. Going to the bathroom is a joke....my bladder feels like if I don't go NOW it is going to explode and then when I make it to the bathroom, only a tiny bit comes out. Not funny at all.
  2. Sugar at 1:00pm is the best thing. Every day after lunch I feel like a little sweet treat. My coworkers now all use me as an excuse to get cookies, ice cream, smoothies, whatever we can get our hands on that day.
  3. Getting off of the couch actually takes quite a bit of energy. I have to prepare myself, talk myself into doing it and then get up. It is much more helpful if Brian just pulls me up.
  4. I can no longer fit into smaller spaces. We were at a restaurant last week and I tried to get on a bar stool next to Brian. Before the baby, I could have fit between the two stools with no problem, this time I got stuck and needed help getting out!
We are slowly getting the house ready for the little one. Brian has cleaned out the office and we are getting ready to take everything out of the guest bedroom this week. All of the nursery furniture has arrived and we just need to set it up. Only three months left until Baby Wing is here!

What did you do at work today?

Every day something new happens here at the winery. Somedays are more exciting than others and some adventures are boring and some are thirilling. Since I've moved over to the executive offices, I've had my fair share of visitors. We've also had our fair share of animal visitors....people bring their dogs to the winery, we rescued Jack Jack just two weeks ago, we've had wild animals make nests under our building. Today though, is by far the weirdest of all days.....

This is who came and visited us today: Kazi the Camel!

Yes, that is a real, live camel in front of my office. She is used for therapy and her owners take her around to various nursing homes and hospitals to cheer people up! She is the most loving animal and is also very soft (I was suprised at that). She felt the need to give me a kiss and now I have camel slime in my hair but that's ok with me! It's not every day a camel kisses you. Her owners are holding a fundraiser at the end of the month are were looking for donations of wine. We've helped them out every year so it was a no brainer that we would do the same this year. That has to be the best sales move ever...bring the camel with you. We were all so happy to see the camel, how could we say no? I can see how great she would be as a therapy animal because she was here about 1 hour ago and I still can't stop smiling.

I wonder who will come visit us next?????

Nursery Decorations!

We have our nursery bedding/decoration set. Here is what it looks like:

My friend Liz was nice enough to let us borrow all of her stuff. They are just transitioning her sons bedroom from a nursery to a "big boys" room and he didn't want airplanes anymore. I brought it all home on Saturday, washed it and ironed some of it. The window covering is already up!
